Owl Breeding Project.
In 2009 we decided to start breeding Spotted eagle owls in captivity for release back into the wild in safe poison-free zones we created. The decimated urban owl population can no longer supply any excess owls to populate the new artificial habitats created by developments.
Using rehabilitated owls which were unsuitable for release because of wing injuries which could not be repaired we now having the largest successful owl breeding project in the country, this year alone we will be re-introducing 30 captive bred Spotted eagle owls back into the wild.
Sadly our owls are moving back into unsafe areas as they breed up in the wild but hopefully our continuous attempts to bring attention to the urban owls plight will eventually enable some at least to re-populate urban areas.
